The Practice offers a full range of enhanced primary care services, including maternity services, travel and health clinics and a range of minor surgery procedures.
The Practice team is made up of Doctors, a pharmacist, a nurse practitioner, practice nurse, healthcare assistants, receptionists, administrators, a secretary and management members. We work as a team, we support the achievement of team goals, co-operating and communicating with colleagues.
All staff members share the same view, which is to provide high quality primary care with the best possible customer service levels by maintaining strict policies and adhering to the NHS guidelines. The vision of the Practice, which is well known to all staff members, is that we put patients at the heart of activity, listening and responding to thier needs compassionatley and demonstrating respect for their opinions and wishes.
As a Practice we recognise and understand organisational changes, which helps to make improvements happen and we share good practice.
Nurse Practitioners are educated to degree level to achieve a high standard of patient care. They are qualified to assess patients' physical, psychological and social needs and to diagnose and implement agreed management plans with patients, including appropriate prescribing and referrals to specialists.
Nurse Practitioners take the lead in the running of the daily nurse-led Minor Ailments Clinic offering treatment to patients presenting with acute self-limiting minor ailments/injuries. They work closely with the GPs to provide a comprehensive service of care and management of patients with chronic ongoing disease.
Sister Gill Elder
Our Nurse Practitioner, Sr Gill Elder, runs daily clinics specifically for minor ailments such as coughs, colds, flu, chest infections, skin problems and aches and pains. She can prescribe medications if needed.
When contacting the surgery to make an appointment please mention your medical reason for attending as it may be that it is more suitable for you to be seen in one of her clinics. (These appointments are not for routine annual reviews, blood tests or ear syringes).
Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurse runs clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes and can carry out cervical smears.
Sister Fran Ashcroft RGN
Fran offers daily clinics, carrying out nursing activites such as chronic disease managment, HRT/contraception, cervical smears, lifestyle advice, travel advice and vaccinations.
Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (taking blood), blood pressure monitoring, flu vaccinations and new patient checks.
